For nearly 20 years, I’ve worked in the nonprofit space—as a program leader, researcher, advocate, animal welfare scientist, and nonprofit professional. I’ve also had the unique opportunity to work on the other side of philanthropy, serving as a grantmaker at one of the largest funders in the farmed animal protection movement.That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of both the incredible need for funding across the movement and what funders look for when deciding which organizations and ideas to support. I often wished I’d had that perspective earlier in my career. While I can’t go back in time, I can put what I’ve learned to work now.Today, I combine my experience as a funder with years of on-the-ground experience in animal advocacy, sanctuary work, program management, and research to help nonprofits tell their stories more effectively, develop stronger proposals, and secure the resources they need to create meaningful change for animals.
